The Glasgow Running Network caters for men and women of all ages and abilities, providing motivation and support year round in a safe and friendly environment. We have groups meeting from a variety of locations around Glasgow for both complete beginners and regular runners.
Our network groups and courses are split into the 3 levels below. If you require any additional information or advice please call 08000 270470 and we can point you in the right direction.
Beginners:
For complete beginners only – new to running or returning after a period of inactivity. These courses start with repetitions of approximately 3 minutes jogging/3 minutes walking and gradually increase in duration throught the course.
We would recommend our 10 week beginners courses (building to 3 miles) as the best starting point if you are a complete beginner looking to start running on a regular basis and not currently looking to complete a 10k. Please see our beginners section for a sample schedule.
Alternatively, our 10k beginners courses run for 12 weeks, meeting twice a week. These courses progress at a faster rate and are specifically designed to prepare you for Glasgow Life’s 10k road races.
If you can jog for approximately 15-20 minutes without stopping, have some running experience or basic fitness level but don’t feel quite ready for the 3 miles with the network then these sessions are for you! We also run 10k “refreshers” training courses in the run up to the Women’s 10k in May and Great Scottish Run in September building from approximately 2 miles up to 6.
If you can run 3 miles without stopping you can join our weekly Network groups meeting year round.
We also have half marathon and marathon training courses for regular runners wishing to challenge themselves to the next level!
Before joining any of our sessions all participants will be asked to complete a Health Screening Questionnaire.
All sessions and courses can be booked directly at the venue of your choice or by calling our freephone number 08000 270470. Weekly network sessions do not need to be pre-booked. Please pay or show your membership card to reception where you will be issued with a ticket to hand to your coach.
Running with us regularly? You can sign up for a Running Network membership at any Glasgow Club venue. Please see our “Network Information and Membership” section for more information.
We would recommend booking our courses in advance to secure your place, however bookings will be taken during the first week if there are places left. Courses may be cancelled if they do not attract sufficient numbers. A full refund or transfer will be given.
Please note no refunds will be given once a course has started.
