This is the 24th running of the Great Scottish Run, an event that has seen around 275,000 runners raise over £30million for charitable causes since 1982. The event takes place on Sunday 5 September 2005 and will feature the usual half marathon, 10k, and 3k race for junior runners aged 9 – 17. The event attracted a record entry of just over 15,000 last year.
Organisers Glasgow City Council aim to repeat this success in 2005, and once again the senior races will begin in George Square and will head to the city’s south side across the Kingston Bridge before finishing in the traditional manner on Glasgow Green.
As well as being a world class road race attracting past winners of the Olympic and London marathons, the FRESH’N’LO Great Scottish Run is a fantastic day out, with runners taking part in fancy dress for charity and great entertainment taking place along the route.
