Sports Bra Information

If you are a girl thinking about participating in the Bank of Scotland Junior Great Scottish Run, Breast Cancer Care would suggest that you wear a well fitted sports bra to provide comfort and support during the race.

A good bra can be very effective in reducing breast pain during strenuous exercise.

The importance of wearing a Sports Bra that's right for you

Run4It work closely with Sports Bra manufacturer Shock Absorber, taking on board their research to ensure we give you the best possible support needed for running. Sports Bras can seem a bit more expensive than your everyday bras but it's because they're designed and constructed using technical fabrics that remove perspiration from your skin - keeping you dry, help prevent any uncomfortable chafing and on top of this they can reduce bounce by up to 78%.

Looking after your breasts should also be an important part of caring for your body.  Breast Cancer Care, the leading provider of breast cancer information and support across the UK, encourages all women to be breast aware throughout their adult life. Being breast aware means knowing how your breasts look and feel normally so that you notice any change that might be unusual for you. Detecting a change early means that if breast cancer is diagnosed any treatment may well have a better outcome. Most breast changes will prove to be benign (non-cancerous) but you should always report any concern to your GP.

The breast awareness 5-point code:

1. Know what is normal for you.
2. Know what changes to look and feel for.
3. Look and feel.
4. Report any changes to your GP without delay.
5. Attend for routine breast screening if you are aged 50 or over.

Breast Cancer Care is committed to providing accessible, high-quality services for everyone affected by breast cancer. All services are free and include a helpline, website http://www.breastcancercare.org.uk/server/show/nav.641, publications, and practical and emotional support.
