Predicted race time

Your predicted race time is very important to make sure you start the event beside entrants of a similar ability. If you are a first-timer it is sometimes hard to predict your time so here are some examples to help you. Remember it is better to over-estimate how long it will take you than under-estimate!

10k

2011 winner, Linet Masai - 32 minutes! (so this means it will take you a lot longer than 1 hour to jog the course!)
TV celebrity and super-fit runner Nell McAndrew - 39 minutes (that is very quick for an amateur!)
Miss Scotland, Jennifer Reoch - 54 minutes (under an hour is a very good time if you have trained properly and will run the full course. Well done Jen!)
Radio Clyde DJ, Knoxy – 1 hour and 10 minutes (typical time for most who run/jog the course – and Knoxy still looked lovely at the finish!)
TV presenter and singer Michelle McManus – 1 hour and 45 minutes (a good time for someone walking the course having done a lot of practice walks)

Half Marathon (Great Scottish Run joint entries only)

The 2012 winner, Joseph Birech – 1 hour and 1 minute!
In Demand Scotland DJ Romeo – 1 hour and 55 minutes (any time under 2 hours is very good but will require at least three months of suitable training)
Jogging the course only – at least 2 hours and 30 minutes
Walking at a very brisk pace after good training – over 3 hours and 40 minutes.

You must submit your entry by Friday 27 April 2012 to ensure your race pack will be posted to you in time for race day. You may still enter after this date but you or a representative will be required to collect your race pack from our race office in Glasgow on Friday 11 or Saturday 12 May 2012.

Race day

Please note - on race day itself, there will be no facility either to enter the race or collect race packs.
